This one has been bugging me... lol (you'll get why I laughed in a minute) for a few years now.
We (people/society) have been trained to think basically all bugs are bad and we just need to kill them all. What brought this up, you might say. It's a weird rabbit hole my brain went down. I saw someone's name who I'd seen occasionally over the past maybe 12 years. I don't know her, at all. Someone called "Becky McCall on Silverton Connections (our local facebook town group) But when I see her name, I remember that about 12 years ago when i first noticed her name, her dog died. I think it was a basset hound. We today I clicked her name to see if that old post might still be there for some random reason. I didn't look very long when I came across a post about snails and slugs and the many many different kinds we have in Oregon.
Anyways, she shared this photo/post from a different page, saying "we've all battled these annoying creatures. If it's not the deer, its these guys."It's annoying because every creature has a purpose in this world. Except for fleas and ticks maybe. We humans just feel like we need to kill everything, because our yards looking nice and greed and "weed" free is more important.
Like dandelions. Everyone wants them out of their yard. They spray poison to kill the weeds and pests. Things that claim to be "ok to spray on food". Do they ever question how this is good for us to spray on things we plan to eat when it kills the weeds and bugs?
We're slowly killing off everything.
I saw a photo of a city (I can't remember which city) that was taken in the early 1900s (I think) this particular city is now covered in sky scrapers, you can't even see the ground, or grass or anything because there are so many buildings. But the photo from the past you could see hills and a few homes or whatever buildings they were.
We kill off everything to make things easier for people.
Any time I see a photo/post of a wolf that was sighted in Oregon, the comments (not all) are full of people saying one thing or another about killing it/them.
I get so annoyed when I see people spraying grass or weeds anywhere now, whether its on the side of the road or in their yard. I just think "don't know you how bad that is? Do you even know how long that stays in the ground." Its no wonder so many people are getting cancers and babies born with different disabilities or whatever. Can't blame it all on Tylenol.
